The list of award winners for the Hero I-League 2022-23 season

Kolkata,15 March 2023: The Federation has released the Hero I-League season 2022-23 honours. Proclaimed RoundGlass Punjab FC as winners. They earned promotion to the Hero ISL, pending to meeting club licencing requirements. Moreover, RoundGlass Punjab’s 52-point score was the first time in a decade that the half-century mark was broken in the Hero I-League . Churchill Brothers did it in 2012-13.

Federation President is Kalyan Chaubey. He moreover was present at the winners’ crowning ceremony at their home venue Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula. He said the team’s effort deserved not only a title but also individual honours for several of the squad’s members.

“Although football is a team sport, individual exploits can occasionally galvanise teams to greater heights,” he remarked. “That has been the case with RoundGlass Punjab this season, and it is no surprise that the team has had several excellent individual players.”

Hero I-League Champions 2022-23: RoundGlass Punjab FC

Luka Majcen IS Slovenian striker. He earned the Hero of the League title with a value of Rs 5,00,000. Further he was the league’s top scorer with 16 goals, was the greatest star of RGP’s star-studded ensemble (Rs 2,50,000). Kiran Kumar Limbu received the Best Goalkeeper award (Rs 2,50,000). However, Juan Mera got the Best Midfielder award (Rs 2,50,000). Moreover, head coach Staikos Vergetis was awarded the Syed Abdul Rahim award for Best Coach.

For the second year in a row, Gokulam Kerala FC’s Bouba Aminou received the Jarnail Singh award for Best Defender. TRAU FC’s Salam Johnson Singh received the Emerging Player award. Each had a reward of Rs 2,50,000.

“It was really encouraging to see this season played devoid of Covid constraints. It was also encouraging to watch several teams deliver some spectacular performances during the season,” Federation Secretary General Dr Shaji Prabhakaran remarked. “Off the field, clubs have gone above and beyond to ensure that this season runs well, and I would want to compliment and thank them for their dedication to Indian Football.”

TRAU FC received the season’s AIFF Fair Play award. However, Mohammedan Sporting Club received the award for Best League Match Organization (Rs 1,000,000). Rajasthan United FC received the award for Outstanding Media Operations (Rs 1,00,000).
