Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati is set to make his much-anticipated return to action in the Copa del Rey 2023 semi-final against Real Madrid. The 20-year-old forward has been sidelined for nearly two years with a series of injuries but is finally ready to make his comeback on the big stage.

Fati burst onto the scene in the 2019/20 season, becoming the youngest-ever scorer in Barcelona’s history youngster of 16 years and 304 days. He quickly established himself as a key player for the Catalan giants, scoring eight goals in 33 appearances in all competitions.

However, his progress was hampered by a knee injury in November 2020, which required surgery and forced him to miss the majority of the 2020/21 season. He made a brief comeback in October 2021 but suffered another setback, requiring further surgery on his knee.

Despite his injury woes, Fati has remained positive and determined to return to full fitness. In a recent interview, he spoke about his eagerness to get back on the pitch and help Barcelona achieve their goals.

“I’ve been working hard in the gym and on the training pitch to get back to full fitness,” Fati said. “It’s been a tough road, but I’m feeling good and ready to play. I can’t wait to be out there with my teammates again and help the team win trophies.”

Fati’s return will be a huge boost for Barcelona, who have struggled for consistency this season. The Blaugrana are currently third in La Liga, four points behind the leaders. Atletico Madrid, and have been knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain.

Will the youngster be helpful for Barcelona?

However, they have a chance to salvage their season with a strong showing in the Copa del Rey. They face arch-rivals Real Madrid in the semi-finals, with the first leg taking place at the Santiago Bernabeu on March 1st.

The tie promises to be a thrilling encounter, with both teams boasting a wealth of attacking talent. Real Madrid have the likes of Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior, and Marco Asensio. While Barcelona can call upon Lionel Messi, Memphis Depay, and Antoine Griezmann.

Fati’s return adds another dimension to Barcelona’s attack. It could give them the edge they need to overcome their fierce rivals. His pace, dribbling ability, and eye for goal make him a potent threat. He will be keen to make an immediate impact on his return.
