Thiago Alcantara might be nearing the end of his Liverpool career

Thiago Alacantra - Liverpool

Glen Johnson indicates that Thiago Alcantara’s future at Liverpool may be uncertain due to the arrival of four new midfielders. Thiago has been dealing with injuries, including hip trouble, and has been in the sidelines since April. Johnson suggests that the increased competition in the midfield might impact Thiago’s role at the club.

Glen Johnson said: “I love Thiago as a player, he’s technically world class, but he’s struggled with injuries and I think the Premier League caught him by surprise a bit.”

“He did have some fantastic games, but maybe the pace of the game was just a little bit too quick.”

“I’m sure he’ll go on to have a good career elsewhere but with Liverpool signing all these players in midfield that can stay fit then it’s not looking good for his Liverpool career.”

Alcantara will face heavy competition from the Liverpool midfield

Liverpool has strengthened its midfield by signing Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo. The addition of these new players may increase competition for places in the midfield. Thus, potentially impacting Thiago Alcantara’s role at the club, according to Glen Johnson.

Thiago Alcantara faced challenges during his time at Liverpool, including adapting to the team’s situation with injuries. Critics might not fully appreciate the context of his performances. Considering the significant injury issues the team faced during the 2020/21 season.

It’s unfortunate that Thiago Alcantara has had to deal with injuries and niggles, hindering the consistency of his performances. His brilliance, however, has been evident when he’s been able to play without these setbacks.

Absolutely, it would be great for both Thiago and Liverpool fans to see him have a sustained and impactful run in the team before any potential move. His technical ability and vision can add a lot to Liverpool’s midfield when he’s at his best.
