Toni Kroos is one of the greatest midfielders of all time. The German has had immense success at the club level and international level also. Kroos is vital to the way the Real Madrid team performs. The midfielder controls the tempo of the game according to which the team performs. He is a 5 time UCL winner with Real Madrid. The German also played a big part in Germany’s World Cup win in 2014. Kroos is also one of the underrated players on the team as he mostly sits behind the offensive players and dictates the pace of the game.
He was a part of the iconic KMC midfield trio. It is the Kroos Modric and Casemiro midfield trio that has won almost everything there is to win. They are regarded as one of the greatest midfield trios of all time. The trio was a big part of the three-peat that Los Blancos achieved from 2016-2018. But that trio is no longer active. Casemiro joined Manchester United this summer in what was a shock to many. As per Reports, he wanted a new challenge after winning so much at Real Madrid. Manchester United are in the rebuilding phase with Ten Hag. They offered big money to Casemiro who did not think twice about making the switch.
Toni Kroos took a dig at the premier league and Casemiro recently. The German midfielder questioned Casemiro’s choice too as to why he chose the Premier league. He said:
“The Premier League has not won an international title this year. Television money has been significantly higher in England for years and yet it hasn’t resulted in English teams winning everything. Thank God not all players look only at salary but also at winning.”
Despite Kroos’s dig at him, Casemiro admitted that he did not move to Old Trafford for Financial reasons.
Can Casemiro make an Impact in Manchester?
Casemiro is Manchester United’s midfield marquee signing. He will have a big job to perform at the heart of the midfield as Ten Hag will look to use his ball-winning abilities. Manchester United are not having the best of seasons but they seem to have turned it around quite a bit. With 2 defeats in the first 2 games, they have won the last 4 beating the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal.
Ten Hag’s first preference in midfield was Frenkie De Jong who did not want to join the Red devils. Casemiro then came as another option as contacts with Real Madrid were established. But it will not be easy for Casemiro to play in such a fast-paced league after settling in La Liga so well. He will also be playing without Modric or Kroos for the first time in 7-8 years. It will be interesting to see how Casemiro adapts to the Premier League.
