Tottenham is having the time of their season without Harry Kane

Former Manchester United and Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has expressed the belief that Tottenham Hotspur is a more formidable team when playing without Harry Kane.

A straightforward 2-0 victory over Fulham last night elevated Spurs to the top position in the Premier League. This win, coupled with Arsenal’s draw against Chelsea on Saturday, allowed Tottenham to move two points ahead of second-placed Manchester City.

When Harry Kane departed for Bayern Munich in August, very few expected Tottenham to launch a potential title challenge. They were without his 30 Premier League goals from the previous season. However, many believed Spurs might even be battling to maintain their top-flight status this season.

Can Tottenham maintain their form throughout the season?

Ange Postecoglou has been effectively rallying his troops and instilled a newfound belief in the Tottenham players. Thus, dispelling the dark cloud that had lingered over the club in recent years. The resurgence of Son Heung-min has been particularly noteworthy. With the South Korean forward scoring seven goals in the Premier League, signaling a return to top form.

Tottenham fans are acutely aware of the perils of getting too carried away. Given that the team is only three points better off than they were at this stage last season. There’s also the memory of the 2019-20 season when Jose Mourinho’s side held the top spot for four weeks until December. But ultimately finished in seventh place.

Tim Howard said to NBC Sports:

“The team are playing fantastically. To be unbeaten at this stage is impressive. The big question coming into the season was no (having) Harry Kane. How were they going to cope without a legend and someone who’s a pillar of this football club?”

“They spent well. Ange Postecoglou is a manager who is very well-versed and managed around the world. He has really good ideas about football, and that’s where we get Angeball.”
