Tottenham to sell Eric Dier to Bayern Munich in January window

Reports suggest that Tottenham might consider another transfer to Bayern Munich in the January window. Eric Dier could potentially join his former teammate Harry Kane at the Allianz Arena. Since, Thomas Tuchel seeks to bolster his defensive options.

Eric Dier has seen his playing time reduced at Tottenham following the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as head coach. Despite making 31 Premier League starts last season, he has not played a single minute in any competition during the current campaign.

Micky van de Ven, a summer acquisition, has developed a strong defensive partnership with Cristian Romero. Tottenham’s absence from European competition has lightened the workload on their first-choice defensive duo. Dier, on the other hand, has been in the match-day squad only three times in nine games and has yet to make an appearance as a substitute.

During the summer transfer window, Eric Dier was linked with a departure. But he opted to remain at Tottenham, where he entered the final year of his contract. That is with the intention of competing for his place. However, it is now possible that a move could materialize during the upcoming winter transfer window.

How did Eric Dier get attention of Thomas Tuchel?

According to the Bayern Insider podcast from Bild, Thomas Tuchel, the head coach of Bayern Munich, is reportedly looking to acquire a center-back in the January transfer window. His primary target for this position is reported to be Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah.

Despite Thomas Tuchel’s interest in Trevoh Chalobah, Bayern’s higher-ups opposed the idea of signing Chalobah during the summer transfer window. As a result, the podcast suggests that it is improbable that Chalobah will make a move to Germany in January.

With the potential Chalobah deal looking unlikely, Tuchel may need to explore alternative options. And as previously reports from Bild say, Eric Dier is one of the players being in the list. Dier is approaching 30 years of age early next year. But his recruitment could come with a positive recommendation from his close friend and former teammate, Harry Kane.
