Who will win the Pichichi Trophy in La Liga this Season?

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Pichichi – the prize for the top scorer in La Liga is heating up as the race for the title is on full speed. Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Gerard Moreno, Karim Benzema, and Youssef El Nesyri are the top five goalscorers as of now.

Messi would be eager to win his eighth Pichichi and fifth conservative award in a row. However, his former teammate, Suarez is just three goals behind him. Currently, his new club, Atletico Madrid lead the table with 63 points in 27 matches, four points ahead of his ex-club, Barcelona.

With just 11 matches left in the current season, let’s have a look at where the top-5 would finish at the end.

Gerard Moreno and Youssef En-Nesyri – the black horses in the race

Gerard Moreno finished third in the 2019/20 season. The 28-year-old forward has scored 71 goals in 167 appearances for Villareal. However, he might be looking to improve his goalscoring ability and is just 3 goals behind his previous season’s 18 goals.

Youssef En-Nesyri is the new player in the list and has been in top form for Sevilla, who are in the race for the top four places. He also has 15 goals to his name. However, he along with Moreno have to create wonders to win the top scorer award.

Karim Benzema – back to his best form in the race for Pichichi

Karim Benzema is almost singlehandedly taking Real Madrid to challenge their rivals for the title. The 33-year-old striker has currently scored 17 goals and is just one goal shy of 2nd placed Suarez.

The return of the striker from injury along with skipper Sergio Ramos has been a major boost for the club. The 13-time Champions League winners were impressive in the 3-1 victory over Atalanta. He might be able to finish at the second position for the Pichichi trophy.

Luis Suarez – Time to shine with your new club

Luis Suarez has been impressive for Atletico Madrid, who are currently the La Liga leaders, scoring 18 goals in 27 matches so far in the league. He finished in fourth place last season.

The 2015-16 Pichichi winner would be looking for winning it again, but for his new club. However, it would be difficult to ease past his best friend, Lionel Messi. He has been in impressive form scoring 18 goals in 30 matches across all competitions.

Messi to win his eighth Pichichi

We all know that who will finally win it! Yes, the answer would be most probably the GOAT. Winning the trophy four times in a row is certainly not an easy achievement and Messi would be looking forward to making it 5 in a row. He has scored, along with Cristiano Ronaldo, 20+ goals in thirteen consecutive seasons.

He has scored 21 goals so far. The title race is on as well as the race for Golden boot! We are predicting that mostly, the 33-year-old Argentine forward would certainly win it!
