Xavi and co thinking of giving two young players a chance in starting XI

When Xavi and the Barcelona coaching staff were searching for options within the youth setup to step in for the then-injured Robert Lewandowski, they had two choices before them.

The coaching staff along with Xavi had two options to consider. One was Marc Guiu, who recently scored the match-winning goal against Athletic Club. And the other was Pau Victor, who was already in the squad for the game against Granada.

On the most recent Sunday, Barça Atletic experienced an impressive revival. With both players making notable contributions to the reserve team’s remarkable comeback against Osasuna Promesas. Guiu’s goal was rightfully the match-winner. However, Victor’s performance and his contributions did not go unnoticed.

It’s important to mention that Xavi is currently unable to call upon Guiu’s services. Since, the 17-year-old is away on international duty for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, which is set to commence in just over ten days.

Xavi needs to make a quick decision hence Lewandowski and Raphinha already returned

With Lewandowski and Raphinha making successful recoveries, the opportunity to secure a place in the starting XI has become more limited. However, according to SPORT, Pau Victor remains fully prepared for any future opportunities that may arise.

Pau Victor is currently the top scorer for Barça Atletic. He has an impressive record of six goals and two assists in nine matches this season. He is a versatile player capable of operating in various positions across the frontline. Although he has primarily been a center-forward by Rafa Marquez for Barça Atletic. Hence, Xavi needs to make a choice on whom to deploy in the near future.

If Xavi finds the need for an additional attacking option from his reserve team, he is well-acquainted with Victor. Despite not having made his official debut, Xavi has closely observed his abilities during training sessions and even contacted him in preparation for the Granada game.
