A third party club set to ‘receive a millionaire sum’ from 2022 Liverpool transfer

Colombian side Junior from Barranquilla have been handed a Christmas present from the Reds. This is thanks to the Luis Diaz deal from Porto to Liverpool. That’s according to Caracol Radio and journalist Marcelo Bee Sellares, who cover how Junior have secured themselves solidarity payments on the Liverpool star.

They explain that Junior are set to ‘receive a millionaire sum of money’ thanks to the deal between Porto and Liverpool for Diaz in January of 2022.

The club filed a lawsuit with FIFA

The club had previously filed a lawsuit with FIFA. They aimed of receiving a share in the signing of Diaz via solidarity mechanisms and intermediaries. They finally won the lawsuit earlier this year. Junior will now receive various amounts of money for 2024, with Sellares detailing that on social media.

According to his information, Junior will receive €8,009,794 from Diaz’s €45 million deal, which is broken into various payments. The first installment is worth €2,550,000, followed by two payments of €1,019,897. There will then be three payments of €1,140,000 to reach the total €8,009,794 payment that FIFA have determined they are owed.

The amount of €8,009,794 is certainly an extremely important figure for the Colombian side. They are hoping to put together a team that can compete on multiple fronts with the money they’re earning from the Liverpool star’s move. Junior FC is Diaz’s youth club and they are still receiving dividends of their early investment in the player.

Back in 2019, Junior FC received €7.22 million from Porto for Luis Diaz. 4 years later, they are set to receive even more from his subsequent transfer from Porto to Liverpool. Diaz is now certainly a key player for the Reds.
