Arsenal interested to sign Ukrainian player, but its not Mudryk

VITOR ROQUE

Even after last year’s disappointment with Mykhailo Mudryk, Arsenal are still in contact with Shakhtar Donetsk. This time, Arsenal are eyeing Ukraine’s next big talent, Georgiy Sudakov.

According to Tutto Juve, Sudakov has impressed Arsenal scouts. He is among the list of center-midfield targets at the Emirates Stadium heading into January. The Italian outfit also claims that several top European clubs including Arsenal, Barcelona, Manchester United, Juventus and Chelsea are also interested in the 21-year-old.

More on Arsenal target Sudakov

Georgiy Sudakov is predominantly an attacking-midfielder, but he can also play as a box-to-box midfielder and winger.

The midfielder has won 12 caps for the Ukraine National Team and established himself as a regular starter for Shakhtar Donetsk last season. He has made 79 senior appearances for his boyhood club, scoring 13 goals and providing on 13 assists.

The Gunners looking to avoid a repeat of what happened with Mudryk

Shakhtar don’t have a price tag yet for Sudakov. But we know from the Mudryk deal, club president Rinat Akhmetov is a tough negotiator. He will look to squeeze out as much money as possible for his players.

Arsenal had been in constant communication with the player and it was said that Mudryk was set on joining the club. However, an improved offer from Chelsea was enough for Donetsk and Mudryk to turn their attention elsewhere.

Arsenal were the favourites to sign Mudryk last year but Chelsea outbid their London rivals. The Gunners were ready to match Chelsea’s up front offer, but not their variables and ended up losing their target.

Arsenal will be hoping they won’t get hijacked again if they decide on going for Sudakov. But with so many club, including Chelsea, interested in the player, there is always a possibility that the transfer fee could shoot up.
