Arsenal aims to secure qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions League. Since, they host Lens on a fiery Wednesday night. The Gunners require just one point to advance to the last 16 of the tournament. Hence, will be eager to outperform the only team that has defeated them in the competition so far.

With a flurry of fixtures on the horizon, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta faces the challenge of effectively managing his players’ game time. The Gunners will be playing nine matches between now and New Year’s Eve. Considering the demanding schedule, there is speculation that Gabriel Magalhaes, despite his commendable performance against Brentford, could benefit from some rest. The Brazilian defender has been actively there in both domestic and international commitments, contributing to a hectic few weeks.

Given the hectic schedule, Arteta might consider resting Gabriel and opting for Jakub Kiwior against Lens. Thus, the 23-year-old could be an option at the left. This suggestion was made by Football.london’s Kaya Kaynak when predicting Arsenal lineup against Lens. He said:

“I think maybe bringing Jakub Kiwior in at left-back to cope with the threat of Lens’ wingbacks is a good idea. Especially given Oleksandr Zinchenko’s fitness.

Can Jakub Kiwior prove his worth during Arsenal Champions League match?

The £20 million signing, described as ‘very fast,’ has performed reasonably well when given the opportunity and exhibits significant potential. Starting Jakub Kiwior against Lens would provide him with a valuable chance to assert himself for more regular Premier League starts. Additionally, it would afford him essential minutes on the field to maintain peak match sharpness.

Balancing the demands of the festive football period involves finding the right equilibrium between resting key players. Also ensuring fringe players remain match-sharp and confident. Furthermore, with reports suggesting interest from other clubs in Kiwior during the upcoming January transfer window. Thus, providing him with a starting opportunity in the Champions League could serve to diminish the chances of his attention being diverted elsewhere.
