Arsenal will try to do what United could not for Benjamin Sesko

VITOR ROQUE

Arsenal are lining up a move for former Manchester United target Benjamin Sesko.

Man U Rejected

Sesko, 20, rejected interest from the Red Devils last summer and instead joined RB Leipzig. However, the forward didn’t move to the Bundesliga outfit until July 2023. And spent one final season in Austria with Red Bull Salzburg, scoring 18 goals in 41 appearances.
The Slovenian international has made an impressive start to life at Leipzig. Despite not starting as many matches as he may have hoped, netting six goals in 13 games. Sesko came on as a late substitute against Manchester City in the Champions League last month, having struck in the 3-1 win over Young Boys on matchday one.

Interest for Benjamin Sesko

However, Sesko is already gaining interest from other parties. It is said that Arsenal dispatched scouts to observe him in the German top division. As Sesko continues to draw similarities with City marksman and Ballon d’Or runner-up Erling Haaland, the Gunners are monitoring’ him ahead of a possible deal.
Remarkably, Leipzig only considers Sesko to be worth £40 million. Arsenal is sure they can win any race to get the attacker’s services, but AC Milan is also intrigued. Since making his senior debut for Slovenia in 2021, Sesko has also netted nine goals in 24 games.

Arsenal Interest

Mikel Arteta could be tempted to add another striker to his roster. Meanwhile, after scoring and dishing up an assist in Tuesday’s triumph over Sevilla, Gabriel Jesus was named Player of the Match.

When Brentford star Ivan Toney’s eight-month suspension ends in January, the Gunners have also been linked with a bid for him. He scoring 20 goals in 33 Premier League games the previous season. Toney will depart the Bees, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham among his possible suitors.

Arsenal Plan for Benjamin Sesko

Arsenal may decide against adding an attacker to their roster now that Sesko is in the discussion. Elvis Basanovic, the agent for Sesko, said earlier this week that he had previously discussed a possible transfer for the young player, who has scored 57 goals in senior club competition.

“I can attest that I previously discussed Sesko with Milan when Maldini was in charge. But at that precise moment, a move was not feasible. “Milan is a massive club, so you never know what the future holds. Sesko is happy right now in Leipzig, where he can keep improving.”
