AS Roma have been very active in the transfer window. Mourinho has been pretty specific that the team needs to be strengthened if they want to compete for titles. One of AS Roma’s weaknesses have been their leaky defense. The goals conceded have been too much and doesn’t help at all with their ambitions. Attack has been pretty decent with the likes of Abraham, and Zaniolo firing for them.
Roma needs defensive reinforcements and Eric Bailly has come out as one of the options. The Ivory Coast defender has played under Jose Mourinho in his Manchester United days. The duo are not shy of a reunion and see it as a transfer that can help both parties. Bailly has been surplus to Manchester United’s defensive needs for some time now.
Bailly on his day is one of the best centre backs you can find around. Strength, physique, pace, technicality, the defender has got it all. But, Injuries have hindered Bailly’s career a lot that has pushed him down the pecking order at United. However, there is no news as to whether Ten Hag will be trusting Bailly ahead of the likes of Martinez, Varane, and Maguire.
Roma Get Paulo Dybala On A Free Transfer
In what was arguably one of the most sought-after transfers, Paulo Dybala made the move from Turin to Rome. The Argentine was a fan favorite at Juventus. But he never really got into his best form. Injuries, Inconsistency made him fall down the aisle for Allegri. Jose Mourinho contacted the 27-year-old himself to convince him to join Roma. Dybala was one of the best free agents in the market.
Roma will be looking up to Dybala to offer something different in their attack. The Argentine is a master ball technician with outrageous ball control, brilliant vision, and a wand of a left foot. So, he will be one of the players to look after most as he can transform this Roma side into title Challengers. However, it will still be interesting to see how Mourinho plans to use Dybala.
