Barcelona duo close to leaving this week

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Barcelona are working on departures at the moment. The club has a lot of players still that need to leave if the new ones are to be registered. The likes of Puig, Mingueza, Lenglet, and Neto have left while Umtiti and Braithwaite are close to getting their contracts terminated. The club has been instructed by La Liga to cut down its wages if they want to register their new signings. Jules Kounde is still unregistered but it seems he will be playing this weekend. This is because Memphis Depay and Aubameyang are very close to leaving Camp Nou.

As per reports, Depay’s contract termination with Barcelona has been agreed upon. It is now up to Juventus to give the green light to his transfer. They have to agree on personal terms and salary with the length of the contract. Juventus have missed firepower up front which has taken a toll on their attack. They are looking overly reliant on Di Maria who has turned 34 this year. Alvaro Morata has left the club and is not going back anytime soon. Depay is the option that Juventus feel can make them title contenders again.

As for Aubameyang, The Gabonese international had a brilliant last season at Barcelona. The striker signed on deadline day for Barcelona in January amid injury to Ansu Fati. Over time he has made himself a vital part of the Barcelona squad. Xavi made it clear to the club that he must not leave under any circumstances. But Barcelona would be foolish to refuse a worthy offer for Aubameyang as Chelsea look to bolster their squad. Thomas Tuchel is a big fan of Aubameyang and has told the club that they must sign him.

How will Barcelona tackle their right-back situation?

Barcelona looks like a reinforced club this season. The club has made brilliant investments this season in all positions. It finally looks like they are going to make a statement this season. But one position still feels that it needs improvement. It is the right-back position that Barcelona have struggled to get a player for. Xavi is not really counting on Sergino Dest for that position due to technical reasons. Ronald Araujo has shown he can play as a defensive right-back but not as an offensive one.

This had made the club consider serious options for that position. Juan Foyth is one of the options on the table. The right-back is not the perfect one but Xavi feels he can improve him so he becomes a big part of the team. But Villareal values him at a good price. Barcelona will have to bring out the chequebook for this one. But before any signing, they first have to make sure departures take place.
