Barcelona are reportedly keen on signing Nabil Fekir from Real Betis. He has been shortlisted by the La Liga giants if Lionel Messi decides to depart. The Catalans are currently leading the race to sign him alongside Premier League giants, Arsenal.
The 27-year-old forward has been a key player for the Andalusian club scoring 10 goals in 63 appearances for them. However, his form has not been up to the mark as compared to his phenomenal time in the Ligue 1 playing for Olympique Lyonnais.
His contract expires on June 30, 2023 and it would be interesting if Manuel Pellegrini allows one of his key players to leave.
Barcelona – a dream coming true for Nabil Fekir!
According to reports, Barcelona are the favourites to sign Nabil Fekir if Messi leaves the club in the summer.
Five years ago, the Frenchman gave an interview to L’Equipe during his stint at Lyon. He was of the opinion to do his best for them and then join a big club. He has 69 goals in 193 appearances for Les Gones. However, his biggest dream continues to be to play for the Blaugranas.
“My favorite team is Barcelona, but I’m aware that much work is needed. To play for Barcelona one day is my dream.” – Fekir said in an interview five years ago.
The attacking midfielder was also linked with a move to Liverpool during his final season at the French club but chose Real Betis instead. Although he hasn’t been top-notch at his current club, he still has been one of the most important players under Pellegrini.
However, as per newer reports, the Gunners are giving a tough fight for the Catalan club to sign Nabil Fekir. Mikel Arteta, current head coach of the London club, is also a big fan of the player.
