Barcelona Keen on Signing Inter Milan defender Bastoni

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Ronald Koeman looks to strengthen Barcelona‘ backline with Alessandro Bastoni after a disappointing departure from the Champions League. As last year’s finalists, PSG, knocked Barcelona out of the competition by winning 5-2 on aggregate.

According to an Italian media report, the so called heart of the defence line of Inter Milan, Alessandro Bastoni might end up in Barcelona this summer. As Koeman looks to rebuild his squad after Messi’s possible departure this summer, his first pick is the Italian Defender.

The 21-year-old Italian center-back helped Inter Milan in keeping 7 clean sheets. Inter currently hold the top spot in Serie A with 62 points in 26 matches so far this season. Bastoni has helped Milan concede only 25 goals this season. Which is 2nd best in the league so far.

Antonio Conte, however, would be keen on keeping the defender in Milan. He believes Bastoni to be the key part of the team. Inter Milan bought Bastoni in the summer of 2017 for €31 million from Atalanta. And his market value has been on the rise since then. The Nerazzuri have no intention of letting the defender leave this summer after finally closing on to securing the league title after 11 years of wait.

Can Barcelona afford Alessandro Bastoni?

Koeman has put a lot of big names in his transfer wish list this summer. Sergio Aguero, Erling Haaland, Memphis Depay, and so on as he looks to find the replacement for Luis Suarez. The Dutchman might find it difficult to bring Bastoni this summer looking at the current financial problems and economic situation of Barcelona.

Barcelona are currently 2nd in the La Liga table with 56 points in 26 games. They are just 6 points behind the table leader Atletico Madrid. They host Huesca at Camp Nou as they look to close the gap on the leaders.
