Ángel Di María might take over Barcelona’s left wing next season

Despite being plagued by injuries throughout his time at Juventus, Di Maria has had a rather good season after moving there from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. In 35 games, he has scored 8 goals and registered 7 assists. He also contributed significantly to Argentina’s successful World Cup campaign, scoring once in the final match against France. He might, however, be making a hasty retreat for the exit, as the player is reportedly considering other opportunities, including Barcelona, according to Diario SPORT. However, Tuttosport says that Di Maria may be considering more possibilities, such as moving back to his country. He might be interested to sign with Barcelona, who are in the need for a world-class left winger for the upcoming season.

Last season, the Argentine had already offered Blaugranes his services for free before leaving PSG. But the Catalan club ultimately decided against signing him because other matters were certainly more important at the time. For the upcoming season, Xavi and Barça are looking to add a pure elite winger to the left flank. Hence Di Mara being one of the possibilities. However some contrary reports are “The Argentine is close to extending his contract with the team” as claimed by Germán Garca Grova. Therefore only time will tell about Ángel Di María’s future.

The club expects to pursue Yannick Carrasco as its top priority. If Ez Abde, who is on loan at Osasuna, decides not to return to Camp Nou, Barca might sign Carrasco.
