Barcelona Midfield might look terrific in the upcoming season

Joshua Kimmich

Sergio Busquets will not play in the midfield for Barcelona in 2023-24 as he is set to join MLS/Saudi pro league. It is unknown what will happen with Franck Kessié, who could leave Camp Nou in the next months, as evident in this moment.

Barcelona eye Kimmich, Gündogan to replace Busquets

According to Mundo Deportivo, Martn Zubimendi (24) is Xavi’s ideal replacement for Busquets in the centre. Joshua Kimmich also might be a potential signing for Barcelona as the German appears to be set to leave Bayern Munich. His idol is none other than Barcelona manager Xavi Hernández. Gerard Romero says Joshua Kimmich has indeed been offered to FC Barcelona. The club was very surprised by this opportunity & is now assessing the situation positively.

Ex Bayern striker Lewandowski wants Kimmich to join Barca. He says to @wlodar85: “What would I tell Kimmich if I called him to come here? That it’s worth coming here, the life, club & the atmosphere – all different from Bayern. Of course, they’re 2 big clubs, but different in terms of life, language, experience & challenge”

Manchester City captain Ilkay Gündogan has also been linked with a move to the La Liga champions, which would bolster Barça’s midfield even further. Gündogan’s experience and football IQ would be crucial to Xavi in the future.

Barcelona and Manchester United have both expressed interest in signing Ruben Neves this summer, with the Catalan giants apparently considering moving Ansu Fati to Wolves in a swap deal to secure Neves.

Frenkie de Jong and Pedri will assist the new pivot

Frenkie de Jong and Pedri, who will remain in Xavi’s midfield three, would benefit from playing with any of these three midfielders. Pedri has quickly established himself as Barcelona’s most crucial midfielder. The 20-year-old star may only have one league assist this season, but numbers do not show his ability. Pedri is certain to be the face of Barcelona’s midfield for the next decade, alongside Gavi and Frenkie de Jong. The La Liga trophy he earned on Sunday is undoubtedly the first of many in his career.

However Kessié, Fati & Ferran might be on their way out of FC Barcelona this summer.
