Gavi aspires to play for Barcelona for a long time

Pablo Gavira, the current Golden Boy winner, is an 18-year-old La Masia product who has been an indisputable addition to the Barcelona first team over the last two seasons. Gavi will be a key component in Xavi Hernandez’s Barca in the 2022/2023 season. However, sources claim that if the player’s new deal remains unregistered, he will be able to depart for any other club that agrees to a pre-contract with the young star. Hence Blaugrana fans concerned about the future of their academy star.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the teenager has since released an interview with Movistar+ in which he makes it very clear to any potential suitors and interested parties that his goal and motivation has always been and will always be FC Barcelona. According to the player:

“..Since I was little, I’ve always wanted to stay at Barça. It’s the club of my dreams, I always say so, and I’m calm. Let them be too..”

Gavi’s newly signed contract continues to be unregistered with La Liga, as the latter believes FC Barcelona is currently not in compliance with a few requirements needed to register the young talent, and has compelled the Catalan club to continue using the player until now on his prior subsidiary contract as a B-team player rather than a first-team player.

However, it is widely assumed within FC Barcelona that the player will be registered at some point. In addition the registration procedure is unlikely to take much longer in the months to come.
