Barcelona youngster Nico Gonzalez might join Real Betis on loan

Despite a successful pre-season, the talented midfielder joined Valencia before the start of the 22/23 season, hoping to establish himself as a regular. Nico, on the other hand, has had a fair amount of troubles since joining the ‘Bats’. The Spaniard had various injury issues, and Valencia’s sporting difficulties exacerbated his situation. With Barcelona in desperate need of exit operations, Nico Gonzalez appears to be a replaceable asset. The idea is to relocate players while simultaneously saving money on salaries so that registrations can proceed. According to SPORT, Nico, who is discussing a loan with Betis with a buy option, is one of those who could depart.

Although the 21-year-old went through a tough time, there is no questioning about his ability. Real Betis have traditionally played a wide-open style of football, which corresponds to Nico’s upbringing. Furthermore, Ramon Planes knows Nico from their time together at the Blaugrana club. The player would undoubtedly suit the Betis model. Barcelona’s willingness to send away the player originates from the club’s desire to quickly focus on their exits, as well as the increasing competition in midfield.

While there is an available place in defensive midfield, Xavi told MD that he considers him to be a more attacking player.

“I see Nico as more offensive. He has a slightly more attacking mentality, more dividing, dribbling… To give you an idea, a bit like Frenkie de Jong this season.”

Ruben Neves and Gundogan are also being linked to Barcelona. Hence a transfer to the Verdiblancos will help Nico as he seeks more playing time.
