Barcelona must compete with  Real Madrid for Argentine Juan Foyth to reinforce the right-back position.

Juan

According to SPORT, Real Madrid have identified Villarreal defender and Barcelona transfer target Juan Foyth as a potential transfer target for the summer window.

Foyth to Los Blancos or Catalonia?

Barcelona’s main goal in the summer is to strengthen the right-back position. They have selected Villarreal defender Juan Foyth as their top target. The Blaugrana have been keeping an eye on the Argentine international since last summer.  But, a deal had fallen through at the time due to Villarreal’s refusal to negotiate a price as well as the defender’s ailment late in the window.  Foyth was a member of the Argentina team that won the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. Thus, he has drawn Barcelona’s persistent interest.

Los Blancos might replace Dani Carvajal with Foyth

Real Madrid have reportedly entered the race to recruit Foyth from Villarreal and have contacted the 25-year-entourage old’s about the same, according to SPORT.Due to worries over Dani Carvajal’s form and fitness, Los Blancos are searching for a new right-back. Los Blancos anticipates searching for a replacement right-back in the summer as worries about Dani Carvajal’s performance, fitness, and durability.Lucas Vazquez and Nacho Fernandez are Carlo Ancelotti’s reserve full-backs, but neither are a natural full-back.Real Madrid appears to be searching for a new right-sided full-back, despite some rumors to the contrary.Reece James, a star for Chelsea had been mentioned as a target. But it’s unlikely that the Englishman will depart in the summer.
Despite declining the opportunity to sign Joao Cancelo in January, Los Blancos are reportedly still interested in the player.

Even before the summer transfer window, Foyth has become a potential target for them.

Financial Fair Play problems haunts Barca

Barcelona, who is unable to compete financially with its bitter rivals because of Fair Play issues, will undoubtedly take this as a blow.
Villarreal continues to demand that interested parties pay the approximate €54 million release clause sum for Foyth. By giving players to the Yellow Submarine in exchange, the Blaugrana hoped to lessen that estimate.

Even yet, the challenge of integrating Foyth into the club’s compensation structure will be difficult. Given the necessity to reduce their salary budget by over €200 million.
The Financial Fair Play problems and Real Madrid’s involvement in the situation may put an end to Barcelona’s pursuit of Foyth. Barcelona has therefore been considering more practical options to the Argentine.

The catalans eye Thomas Meunier, Benjamin Pavard and Diogo Dalot if they fail to sign foyth.
