Barcelona is pushing to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2022/23 season by signing Robert Lewandowski. Apart from him, Ousmane Dembele’s stance has also been revealed.
Xavi’s intentions
Xavi, the Catalan head coach, is attempting to assemble a team capable of fighting for big titles once more. As of now Lewandowski is top on Blaugrana’s shopping list and has been looking for a move to the La Liga for a while.
“Yes, Lewandowski is an option,” -Xavi confirmed in a press conference, before Barcelona’s last La Liga game facing Villarreal.
“He has already said he wants to leave, there are negotiations, but he still has a contract at his club. It won’t be easy being Bayern, but it’s an option.”
the former Barcelona player added.
Bayern Munich’s take on Barcelona
Bayern Munich has slapped a £50 million price tag on the Pole if Barcelona wants to buy. On the other hand, Xavi’s team is expected to offer £34.4 million and £6.9 million in add-ons.
Bayern enjoyed their time with the Polish striker scoring 50 goals in 46 games and assisting on 7 occasions. These stats explain why club president Herbert Hainer and CEO Oliver Kahn are trying to keep Lewandowski for another season.
Looks like, after all, Bayern Munich can sell their best striker to Catalonia. The Bavarian giant seems to be in a comfortable position by being able to sign Sadio Mane from Liverpool. All they can hope for now is the Senegalese International to settle in the Bundesliga and score goals alongside Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane.
Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona: The current situation
Ousmane Dembele wanted to part ways with the Blaugrana’s advice back in January, but he was able to redeem himself back into the squad after Xavi came in. The 25-year-old finished La Liga 2021-2022 with 2 goals and 13 assists in all competitions. Despite being injured for the most part of his career, these stats are impressive.
The Mirror reported that the Frenchman spoke to a Barcelona fan about his current situation at Barca. He insisted that he is a good midfielder and doesn’t see himself leaving the Camp Nou anytime during the 2022-23 season.
There have been many talks about Frenkie De Jong going to Manchester United where his previous manager Erik Ten Hag is the boss. In case the Spaniards decide to cash out the Dutchman, they found themselves the fees to pay for Dembele’s demanding wages and signing Lewandowski from Bayern.
