Manchester United full-back Brandon Williams is seeking a loan move away at Old Trafford in this transfer window.
Brandon Williams’ rise to top-flight football was simply phenomenal. He became a crowd favourite right from the time he made his first tackle.
Last season, he made 36 appearances for the first team and scored a single goal, a mind-blowing half volley in the thrilling 3-3 draw against Sheffield United. He featured in all three of the semi-finals Manchester United played last season.
However, this season he has been struggling for games in Premier League. He has made just 5 appearances in all competitions with 3 of them coming off the bench.
Loan move looks possible for Brandon Williams?
Brandon is a very highly rated player. A right-footed player, he plays as a left-back though at times he Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has deployed him at the right. Though he was looked upon as a second fiddle to Luke Shaw, his stats show that Shaw had to fight for his game-time too.
He is a defender who does not shy from sliding to retrieve the ball. He had a better tackle-success rate than Shaw last season. The signing of Alex Telles however, pushed him down the ranks.
Southampton tried to get him on loan in the previous transfer window. Solksjaer blocked the move stating that the academy graduate will surely be a part of the club’s bigger plans. As the season began, Newcastle, Sheffield United, Southampton, Everton, and even Bayer Leverkusen showed interest in the youngster noting his meagre game-time.
On being asked his opinion about the rumours, Solksjaer praised Williams.
Those were some strong words by the manager.
Manchester United have let academy products Dion McGhee to Braga and Ethan Laird to MK Dons(on loan). Brandon has larger clubs in search of him and he should use these opportunities to prove himself.
