Neymar offers himself to Barcelona according to SPORT

This is according to SPORT, which reports that the Brazilian international is eager to return to Catalonia and would be willing to reduce his wages in order to do so. Barça have made it obvious that they want to add a marquee player to their squad this summer. The La Liga winners are looking for a top-tier star who can make an impact on the pitch. Hence Messi has been identified as that man.

In reality, manager Xavi Hernandez had planned to have the Argentina captain on his squad for the following season. But the 35-year-old chose Inter Miami over Barcelona due to a lack of guarantees about his registration. With Messi out of the picture, the Blaugrana have been provided with the opportunity to re-sign Neymar, who is set to leave PSG this summer. Between 2013 and 2017, the 31-year-old spent four years with Barça before joining PSG in a world-record €222 million move. It hasn’t always been easy for him in PSG shirt, and a departure is in the cards this summer.

Even if Neymar is prepared to reduce his wage, Barcelona might think PSG’s demands for him too high. Given that the Brazilian currently has two years left on his contract with the Ligue 1 winners.

Xavi declines Neymar’s offer and looks keen to sign a pivot instead

According to the claims, Neymar reportedly offered himself to Barcelona. When asked about the report, Xavi appeared astonished and shut it down.

“Ah… Surprise… That’s a surprise.”

“Look I appreciate Neymar as a person, as a player, as a friend, he’s a great player, but he’s not in our plans no.”

Xavi Hernández further says: “I need two signings in midfield. I lack an interior and with Busquets’ departure, we also need a pivot. This has to be the priority.”

Hence, it seems impossible for Barcelona to sign Neymar. Financial fair play issues, along with the club’s desperation to sign a pivot, have shattered Neymar’s dreams of playing for Barca again.
