Chelsea added a club world cup trophy to their esteemed trophy cabinet with the help of a tactical change confirmed by Cesar Azpilicueta.

Chelsea 2-1 won against Palmeiras in the finals of the Club World Cup. The match however was decided by a tactical penalty to be scored by Havertz. The tactical change (previously assumed) now confirmed by Cesar Azpilicueta.

Azpilicueta and his genius tactic helped Chelsea lift the club world cup against Palmeiras. The match scored was tied at 1-1 when Chelsea won a penalty. All eyes were on the Blues players to see who would take the spot-kick. The Chelsea captain Azpilicueta picked up the ball which led to Palmeiras player assume he would take it.

As he went towards the spot, Plameiras’ players surrounded the Spaniard. The players tried to put all the pressure on Azpilicueta. All their efforts went down the drain. When the referee cleared the box, Azpilicueta handed the ball to Kai Havertz.

Havertz without any hesitation took the ball and scored. Havertz’s goal went on to become the difference that separated Chelsea and Palmeiras. Additionally Azpilicueta in an Interview said

“I expected the Palmeiras players to come around the penalty taker,” he admitted. “I already told Kai he was going to shoot. Just tried to release the pressure from him, be calmer. With three minutes to go, it’s an important moment. It worked!

Azpilicueta surely has done a wonder here for Chelsea.

It should be noted that it was Kai Havertz who made the difference in the Champions League match for Chelsea vs Manchester City. When compared overall, Havertz hasn’t yet proved himself at Chelsea. The player has a total of 28 in which he has scored just 6 times and have assisted 4 times.

Without a doubt, it can be said that there is still a lot of room for development. The winning penalty in the Club World Cup would surely give him a confidence boost. But whether the player still performs is yet to be seen.
