Chelsea teammates Enzo and Caicedo seem unhappy in the squad

Graham Potter

Aston Villa icon Gabby Agbonlahor suggests that Chelsea duo, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, are beginning to show signs of frustration with their teammates. Despite joining Chelsea this year, they have been unable to significantly improve the team’s fortunes. With the Blues managing to win only five out of 16 Premier League matches this season.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly made significant investments. Thus, spending £107 million to acquire Enzo Fernandez from Benfica in January. Subsequently, in the summer, Boehly paid Brighton a fee. That could escalate to £115 million to secure the services of Moises Caicedo.

Meanwhile, Agbonlahor said about the Chelsea duo: “They’re not value for money because the amount they spent on them, but Caicedo and Fernandez are top, top players. But they are too inconsistent. When you watch them they look like they’re getting a bit frustrated. They win the ball back and give it to [Cole] Palmer. Palmer counter-attacks, you’ve got Jackson and Mudryk. They’re so erratic up front and it must be frustrating for midfielders.”

Chelsea struggling as mid season approaches

The Blues’ Premier League standing has declined to 12th place, and the prospect of breaking into the top four seems distant. That is with a 14-point gap from the Champions League qualification places. In the past week, Pochettino’s team Chelsea suffered a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford, followed by a 2-0 loss at Everton on Sunday.

In the midst of struggles of Chelsea, Ian Wright has specifically singled out Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo. Thus, directing criticism toward them.

Contrary to the criticism, Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel has asserted that both Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo require more time to showcase their abilities. Whatever, The Blues needs to bounceback if they want to stay relevant in the league.
