Clouds of uncertainty over Lionel Messi transfer saga

PSG

Barcelona fans should brace themselves for a difficult summer as the club continues to lose momentum in their pursuit of Lionel Messi. The return of the Argentine international has been highlighted as one of Barça’s priorities for the next summer. But it looks that his chances of returning to Camp Nou are decreasing.

Cesar Luis Merlo says Inter Miami can sign Lionel Messi soon

To that reason, Barcelona’s pursuit of Messi has already ended, according to Marcelo Bechler. This summer, the experienced forward will not be returning to Camp Nou. It should be recalled that Bechler was the individual who broke the news of Neymar’s transfer to PSG in 2017 and revealed Messi’s desire to quit the club in 2020. He is not the only journalist who believes Barcelona’s chase of Lionel Messi has come to an end.

According to Cesar Luis Merlo, Inter Miami has shown interest in signing the Argentine this summer, assuming that he will not join Barcelona. The Champions League finalists have even made a formal offer to Lionel Messi, hoping to sign him before the start of the new season. The player, for his part, is supposedly waiting for La Liga’s approval before making an official proposal of his own. However, he has already received proposals from Saudi Arabia, with Al-Hilal willing to spend a fortune on the 35-year-old. Merlo goes on to say that a decision on Messi’s future can be reached in the next few days. This is a bad news for Barcelona, given that the Catalans are unlikely to authorise the operation anytime soon.

However, Barcelona needs time to sanction all of the exits and generate fresh revenue. So it will be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks.

La Pulga is waiting for Barca’s official offer

The player’s illustrious tenure with the club ended in tears and stress. However there is a widespread belief that he deserves a fairytale ending with the club where he began his reign. Barcelona’s goal of signing the Argentine forward has never been closer. It has taken many sleepless nights for club president Joan Laporta and sports director Mateu Alemany to bring the club’s finances back to a point where Messi’s arrival can be addressed. The former captain is aware of Barcelona’s interest in him, but he has yet to receive an official offer. While the Catalans have made an unofficial bid of €25 million, Lionel Messi wants La Liga to confirm that there will be no issues with his registration.

La Liga might grant Barcelona the green light in the coming days, and an offer from the Catalan club is likely as soon as they receive approval. Negotiations are likely to move quickly if an official bid from his previous club is on the table.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Lionel Messi is considering returning to Barcelona as a free agent this summer. Romano revealed on his YouTube channel that the Argentine forward will have to wait a few more days before receiving an official offer from the Blaugrana. He stated:

“I think Messi is going to wait a few days more for Barcelona before deciding. He’s speaking with Xavi, he’s speaking with Barcelona, he’s tempted – but he can’t say/do much until he receives a proposal.”
