Dalot turned down Milan’s move to stay in England

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Diogo Dalot is the unlikely hero of Manchester United’s summer transfer window this season. The fullback has been nothing short of impressive for the Reds. He is the number one pick for Erik Ten Hag at the right-back position. The Portuguese has put in brilliant shifts since the start of the new season. It was Ten Hag’s decision not to sign a new right-back this summer and it finally seems to pay off. With Wan Bissaka not favored by Ten Hag, Dalot is getting regular game time. It can be noticed in his gameplay that the full-back is improving game after game.

As per reports, Dalot turned down an offer from AC Milan to get minutes at Manchester United. The 23-year-old did not fare his chances at Milan and felt it was better to come to Manchester. It does not seem to be a wrong decision by any means. Dalot is now one of the first names on the list for the manager. He has been great defensively and offensively as well. It is quite clear that his time with Milan made him great in defense. Now, he features in a backline with Martinez, Malacia, and Varane that has kept quite a lot of clean sheets.

During his time in Serie A, Dalot said:

“Milan are a great team. I loved the season with the Rossoneri. But transfers just are not up to me. In the end, I decided to stay at United and it was the right decision. I am a better defender now which I owe to Milan. The experience in Serie A was really good. I had to adapt in just 1 year and then shift to the Premier League.

It is no surprise why AC Milan went on to sign Sergino Dest as the move for Diogo Dalot failed.

The Turnaround for Manchester United

A team that finished 5th in the league last season was expected to even do worse this season. New manager Erik Ten hag had the worst start to the season with defeats against Brighton and Brentford. But since then, it has been nothing short of a miraculous turnaround for Manchester United. They have registered 4 wins out of 6 in the Premier League. A loss to Real Sociedad does not tell the whole story but the dressing room feels vibrant after all.

Cristiano Ronaldo stays at the club which is what Ten Hag always wanted. It will be a downgrade to play in the Europa League for a player of his stature. But the Portuguese will be looking to prove his haters wrong as always. He has not yet scored for the Red Devils this season but You can never count him out. Erik Ten Hag finally seems to have a squad that is hungry, young, and gives everything all on the pitch. The transition seems to be in the right direction.
