Journalist Santi Ovalle has stated that Ousmane Dembele is only thinking about Barcelona. He wishes to extend his contract with the club, and talks have already begun in the Barça headquarters. Last year, Dembele and Barcelona were the two main protagonists in an amazing drama. With the Frenchman hesitating to accept Barcelona’s low economic offer, those in the office attempted to force him out of the squad before the two reached an agreement near the end of the previous season. As it turns out, Dembele was Xavi’s go-to man this season until his injury. Now that his contract is set to expire in 2024, negotiations about a possible extension have begun.

Dembele might sign a long term contract extension
According to Ovalle, the player already has an early proposal on the table after meeting with Mateu Alemany’s agents a few weeks ago. During that meeting, it was agreed that, while the forward want to remain, he will reply to Barcelona’s offer by the conclusion of the season. At the moment, the 26-year-old is taking the opportunity to analyse the situation now that he has all of the proposal’s contents. Unlike their last encounter, Barcelona will now offer him a long-term deal. While knowing that Paris Saint-Germain is keen, he is eager to stay.
The 26-year-old is said to be extremely at ease in the city. He arrived at Barça as a 20-year-old raw talent. In addition now he has Xavi’s full backing, he has stated that his heart is in Barcelona.
“My big dream is to win a Champions League with Barça, winning a trophy with the club you love is the best“
“I’ve been a Barça fan since I was little, I’ve always been a fan of this team. I feel very good here and I hope to become a great player here,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ovalle adds that if Barcelona does not recruit a senior player this summer, Dembele may be the club’s third captain after Sergi Roberto and Marc-Andre ter Stegen next season.
