The SAFF competition is to start on June 21. The eight competing nations muster their might to compete against one another in a taxing two-week competition as the 2023 SAFF Championship draws near. Has India won SAFF Championship?
India has won eight SAFF Championship titles to far (1993, 1997, 1999, 2005, 2009, 2011, 2015, 2021), further making them the most successful team in the competition.
In the first edition of the competition, however which was played in a Round Robin style, India won after placing first with seven points. Moreover with three goals, IM Vijayan ended with the most goals scored.

Format
In order to facilitate the 2023 SAFF Championship, the eight competing teams were split into two groups of four. Each team will however compete in a round-robin style against every opponent from their group. Moreover the group winner and runner-up from each match will advance to the knockout rounds.
The winner of the first group will further play the runner-up from the opposite group in the knockout rounds, and vice versa.

- Group B Winner vs. Group A Runners Up in the Second Semifinal
However, the semifinal and final winners will square off in the championship match.
The competing teams will rank according to points. Moreover, a team will receive three points for a victory, one point for a draw, and no points for a defeat. If two teams are tied on points at the conclusion of every game, the following criteria must be used.
- Goal differential in all group games
- Goals scored in all group games
- Goals scored in head-to-head games between tied teams
- Penalty shootout if only two teams are tied and played each other in the last round of the group
- Discipline points (one point for a yellow card, three points for two yellow cards, moreover three points for a direct red card, and further four points for a yellow card followed by a direct red card).

On a subscription basis, fans may watch every game of the SAFF Championship 2023 live on the FanCode app or website for 49 rupees for the whole tournament and further 15 rupees for a single game.
Moreover, live coverage of the SAFF Championship 2023 will be accessible in India on the TV networks of Star Sports Network.
Subject to approval and final decision by SAFF, the SAFF Championship 2023 will also be LIVE broadcast on either Sports18 Network or DD Sports, or maybe both.
