New Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi wants to bring in Denzel Dumfries as the replacement for Achraf Hakimi. Inzaghi considers Dumfries as the ideal candidate among all the alternatives.
This is according to the reports from Calciomercato.com, which states that Inter is trying to push for a loan deal with an option to buy. However, it will not be easy as PSV Eindhoven are not ready for a loan arrangement for their player Dumfries.
Inter Milan are looking to fill the gap left by Hakimi in the right-back position after the Moroccan left for PSG. Dumfries is the top target, especially after his impressive performance in Euro 2020.
THE FLYING DUTCHMAN
Dumfries is an excellent forward-minded full-back. He likes to carry the ball forward and is a goal threat. His defensive contributions are also excellent and he is also good at handling aerial threats.
This is evident from the 16 goals that he has scored for his club PSV Eindhoven in 124 appearances in all competitions. The 25-year-old is clearly a good option to replace the similarly attacking Hakimi at Inter Milan. This is a reason why manager Inzaghi consider him as his first choice transfer.
Add to that his amazing performance in the Euro for the Netherlands national side, scoring 2 goals and assisting 1, has hiked his value tremendously.
INTER FINDING IT HARD TO LAND DUMFRIES
Inter Milan are going through financial difficulties and is a reason why they had to sell Hakimi in the first place. Thus the club is currently only able to offer a loan deal for Dumfries with an option to buy. The 25-year-old still has two years left in his contract with PSV.
However, the Dutch club is not ready to entertain a loan deal for their right-back. This is because of all the interest Dumfries is having from around Europe. Everton was one of the clubs monitoring the player and is leading the race, There were also enquiries from Bayern Munich who are desperate to find reinforcement in the right-back position.
Thus if Inter wants to land their manager his desired target, they will have to convince PSV to come to terms with their arrangement. Dumfries desire to join the Nerazzurri will also be vital in pushing the move through.
