Eden Hazard has been a disappointment over the past two seasons at Real Madrid after he transferred to the Spanish Capital from Chelsea. However, Hazard has commented on staying at the club and prove a point by leading the team upfront in the next season.
The Belgian had an impressive form at Stamford Bridge for over 7 years, following which Madrid signed Hazard in 2019. The Whites paid a hefty amount of €100 million, while the figure may rise to €140 million including the add-on for landing the left-winger.
But, the huge amount has gone to waste, as Hazard has failed to perform for Madrid in the past two seasons. The Belgian suffered dozens of injuries over two seasons, leading to less game time at the pitch. Hazard only appeared 43 times for Madrid while scoring 5 goals in the past two seasons.
Following his injury-affected career, it was rumored that Real Madrid wants to sell off the Belgian this summer. But Hazard cleared out the rumor stating he has no intention to leave Spain next season, as he has point to prove at Real Madrid. While Madrid’s new manager Carlo Ancelotti has talked about including Hazard into his plans for next season in his press conference.
It’s clear that Hazard is not leaving Real Madrid anytime soon, as he has a lot prove. Currently, the winger is focusing on his Euro 2020 campaign with Belgium. He has shown some good form for his national team as he helped them to finish first in their group.
Hazard talks about leading Real Madrid from upfront next season
Hazard has been questioned many times regarding his role at Real Madrid. He has missed a staggering number of games for the last two seasons. The latest interaction happened when the Belgian was questioned by a reporter about his leadership quality, following his role at Madrid.
Hazard in reply talked about how his leadership role for Belgium, and his desire to lead Madrid next season. Hazard also talked about suffering over two years due to an ankle injury. However, he confidently talked about how he still can lead a team despite failing for two years.
Hazard, currently focuses on lifting the Euro Cup with Belgium and prove a point to his haters. While he also stated that he will be seen a lot next season for Real Madrid as he desires to lead his club upfront in terms of scoring goals.
“I try to be a leader on the pitch regardless of who I’m playing for. You can only become a leader if you’re playing well and I play a lot more with the national team. I think if I have playing time with Real Madrid I can also become a leader there. But I’m getting confident, my entourage as well. Things are going quite smoothly at the moment.”
