Encouraging News on Ederson’s Injury: Expected Return

Ederson got injured during Manchester City’s game against Nottingham Forest, but the outlook for his injury is positive. He should be back playing for Manchester City before the season ends. Scans showed that Ederson’s injury isn’t as serious as first thought.

He hurt his shoulder during a challenge in the first half of the game against Nottingham Forest on Sunday. He had to leave the game at halftime, and later left the City Ground with his arm in a sling. At first, Pep Guardiola thought the injury looked serious.

Shoulder Injury: Positive News on Recovery

Additional examinations on Ederson’s shoulder showed that the injury isn’t as serious as initially thought. There’s hope that he will recover in time to play before the end of the season. Manchester City still has four Premier League games and the FA Cup final left to play.

There’s no rush to bring Ederson back because Stefan Ortega has been doing well as his replacement this season. It’s likely that Ortega will continue to play in goal for the upcoming game against Wolves at the Etihad Stadium. Ortega has also been City’s goalkeeper for cup matches this season and will likely keep that role for the match against Manchester United at Wembley on May 25th.

Ederson might be back in contention to play in the Premier League games against Fulham, Tottenham, and West Ham. This was the third time this season that Ederson had to leave a Premier League game due to injury, after also getting injured in matches against Newcastle and Liverpool.

Stefan Ortega’s Reliable Performance in Ederson’s Absence

Stefan Ortega has played 17 times in all competitions this season, thanks to Ederson’s absence, and the 31-year-old has shown that he can be relied upon. Deciding what to do next will be one of the first big choices of the summer, as Ortega is considering returning to Germany after his second child is born.

“At the end it’s not my single decision, my [wife] is there as well, we’re expecting the second child.”

“I’m happy to be here because it’s one of the biggest clubs in the world. The target is still the same, I’m ambitious from the beginning and this is what I try to do every day.” Ortega said after the 4-1 City win against Aston Villa.
