Erik Ten Hag discusses his future and compares Rashford

Erik Ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, likened Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain to Marcus Rashford when discussing Rashford’s future with the team. The England international struggled during his first season at United, Erick Ten Hag said that Rashford made 32 appearances in all competitions and scored just five goals and two assists.

He has changed his fortunes under Ten Hag this term, though. In just 19 games, the 25-year-old has eight goals and three assists.

With three goals, Rashford also excelled for England in the World Cup, and Ten Hag has since likened him to Mbappe for his brilliant positioning in the final third. According to The Daily Mail, he told reporters,

“I immediately saw great potential. There is essentially no better player in the world than Marcus when he is positioned on the back of the defending line. At this time, Mbappe is the only thing.”

Erik Ten Hag said about Rashford

The current United contract for Rashford expires in the summer of 2023, but the team has the option to extend it by another year. By December 31st, the provision will become effective.

Under Ten Hag, Rashford has enjoyed a fantastic career resurgence. For the athlete, who is likely looking forward to a sizable pay raise during the height of his career, it has likely come at the perfect moment.

The England star presently earns £200,000 a week in salary. The management must now make a new offer because he has previously rejected new conditions at £300,000 per week.

Rashford could seek to overtake the club’s top earnings, in our opinion.
