Fans Enraged as Van de Beek Benched for Manchester United’ EFL Clash Also

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Donny Van de Beek was benched for Manchester United’s EFL clash despite positive comments by Solskjaer in the pre-match press conference.

Manchester United took on Manchester City in the EFL CUP semi final which they were eager to win. However, City beat United by 0-2 as they scored two goals in the second half which guaranteed them a spot in the final. And this meant that United who were doing brilliantly well in the Premier league crashed out of the tournament.

Goals from John Stones and Fernanhino were enough for City to clinch victory over their bitter city rivals. Both Manchester teams heading to different destinations as one team is going to the final and the other was eliminated.

Fans question Van De Beek playtime for Manchester United under Solsjkaer

According to reports from the Republic world. The fans were upset about United’s performance against City. However, they seem to question why did De Beek get only 3 minutes of playtime when he was praised by the manager in the pre-match press conference?

“Donny is adapting and is getting more and more used to us as a team and the way we want to play, and of course the Premier League is a different scenario to the Eredivisie and we’ll see a lot of him, don’t worry about that.”

-Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Donny Van de Beek

The fans criticized Solskjaer as he isn’t giving much playtime to Donny Van De Beek. He was a prominent signing made by United who was to be deployed alongside Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.

However, Van de Beek has made only 19 appearances this season across all competitions. Where he has scored and assisted a goal. But 760 minutes of playtime does not fulfill the purpose of signing him so they should play him more often.

With Solsjkaer insisting that he will have to wait for the right opportunities, there could be images of the 23-year-old Dutch superstar being unsettled in United.
