Fati snubbed by Enrique for the Spain team

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Ansu Fati is one of the best young players in the world. The teenager made his debut in 2019 for Barcelona and has been historic since then. He is the youngest goalscorer in the history of the club. The 19-year-old has set various records at such a young age only. He had such a formidable partnership with the likes of Messi and Suarez. The youngster really exploded under Ronald Koeman and now Xavi seems to bring the best out of him. The Barcelona youngster has slightly looked sluggish and has not had the best start to the season.

This is one of the reasons why Ansu Fati is not in Luis Enrique’s squad for international friendlies. Thiago Alcantara has also missed out. It does make everyone think if Luis Enrique has gathered his best squad for the upcoming matches. Some are even saying that the best IX of the players left out can beat the Best IX of the players Enrique has selected. But the coach does not feel the same and in the end, the decision lies with him. But Luis Enrique was not shy in accepting that there are a lot of players that are not at the desired level now. And that justifies why they are not in the squad as every team looks to sort out their best 11.

On fati and his snub, the former Barcelona man said:

He came in June to get into group dynamic, and have contact again, to see how he was, and the truth is, he was much better. He’s only played one game as a starter for his club this season and this tells me something. Hopefully we’ll see the best of Ansu again, but today I don’t see him on the list. He’s gaining confidence and improving after not playing for a long time.

It is no doubt Enrique does not want to risk Ansu’s injury and maybe has taken the right decision. It will take time for Fati to be back to his best form but things must not be hurried.

Some big names miss out for Spain

Luis Enrique’s squad for the Nations League has missed out on some big names. The media posed questions to Barcelona’s treble winner about snubbing out the likes of Ramos, Fati, and many more. Enrique was not interested in getting into controversies but did say that it is not over yet for any player. Luis said:

The door is not close for any Spanish player available for selection. I do not know the percentage of these players which will be at the world cup.

Certainly, the snubbed players will do everything possible to impress Lucho this time around. Spain arrives at the World cup as one of the favorites. Even without Ramos, Thiago, and Fati, they have enough quality to put any team to bed. But it will surely be interesting to see how Spain approaches this Nations League and the WC.
