Floyd Pinto, the former head coach of the India U-19 national team and the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Elite Academy, joined Odisha FC as their assistant coach. Pinto was also the assistant coach of ISL side North East FC in 2022-23. This time, as a deputy of Sergio Lobera, Pinto joined the Juggernauts.
The 36-year-old SAFF U-19 champion coach was appointed as the replacement of Clifford Miranda, with whom the club has mutually parted ways. He joined the Kalinga Warriors on a two-year deal with an option to extend for another year.
Playing Career:
The FA International License Certificate holder did not play much as a professional footballer.
Floyd Pinto stated during an interview,
“I have not played much at any level other than the Mumbai University level and Kenkre FC in the Mumbai Elite Division. At the same time, I was pursuing my engineering as well. So it was difficult to manage.”
Managerial Career:
On how he came to coaching, Floyd Pinto said,
“Through Don Bosco itself, the administrator, Fr. Adolph (Furtado), got me into Kenkre FC as a part-time coach. Ever since I picked up there, I spent six years at the Kenkre Academy as well as their I-League second division team as the head coach and head of youth development. At that point of time, I played with them (Kenkre) for a year, but I soon realized that it’s not going to happen because you need that level of nurturing before you become a good player.”
The AFC A License holder joined Luis Norton de Matos as his deputy for the U-17 India National Team. Later, he was the assistant coach of the Indian Arrows from 2018 to 2019. As an assistant coach, he also had stints with Roundglass Punjab FC and North East FC.
During his tenure with North East FC, Floyd Pinto, as interim coach, helped his team to qualify for the Super Cup semifinals.
