Former Jamshedpur FC captain Peter Hartley has completed his UEFA A coaching license

Peter Hartley, the 35-year-old English center-back, is looking for a new adventure, so he has completed his UEFA A coaching license. Among Indian football fans, the name Peter Hartley is quite well known. Peter Hartley has played for ISL side Jamshedpur FC in three consecutive seasons.

Player Profile: Peter Hartley:

Peter Hartley started his football career at Sunderland in 2000. After spending his youth career in Sunderland, Hartley signed for his hometown club, Hartlepool United, in May 2009. He scored his first goal for Hartlepool in a 1-0 win over Tranmere Rovers on October 24, 2009.

Hartley has made 165 League One appearances with Hartlepool. In 2013-14, Hartlepool United got relegated from League One and moved to League Two. This year, Hartley left the club and joined another League One side, Stevenage.

Later, Peter Hartley played for clubs like Plymouth Argyle, Bristol Rovers, Blackpool, and Motherwell. From 2017 to 2020, Hartley also played 53 matches for the Scottish Premiership Club Motherwell.

After completing his stint with Motherwell, Hartley switched to India’s top-tier football league, the ISL.

Performance in ISL: Peter Hartley:

Indian Super League (ISL) side Jamshedpur FC signed Peter Hartley on August 20, 2020, on a two-year deal. Hartley also became the captain of Irish manager Owen Coyle’s team. Hartley scored his first goal for the Men of Steel against North East United.

Under his captaincy, the Men of Steel have also kept a club record nine clean sheets in a single season. In the 2021–22 season, Jamshedpur tasted success as they became the ISL League Shield winner, making a league record of consecutive seven-match victories.

Though Captain Hartley has extended his contract for one year with Jamshedpur, he left the club on January 9, 2023.

After mutually parting ways with Jamshedpur, Hartley returned to Hartlepool United.

Hartley also has 47 Hero ISL appearances for the Men of Steel, with four goals.

Hartley is now a UEFA A coaching license holder:

It seems like Hartley has completed his football career and is looking for some new adventures. Hartley, who has a rich knowledge of the game, has completed the UEFA A Diploma in Belfast Northern Ireland. On July 24, 2023, Hartley successfully completed the course and became an UEFA A license holder.

On completing UEFA A Diploma, Peter Hartley said,

“Like learning to drive. This certificates doesn’t come close to the 18 years of experience I’ve gathered playing under some fantastic managers and coaches. Onto the next one ⚽”
