Gabriel Agbonlahor has backed Liverpool to beat Arsenal in a crucial top-of-the-table clash on Saturday. Arsenal head into the game in decent form after picking up a win over Brighton last week. Meanwhile Liverpool head into the game with a frustrating 0-0 draw with Manchester United at home last week.
Mikel Arteta will be hoping to lay a marker down at Anfield on Saturday. The Gunners are yet to beat any of the top sides away from home this term. Agbonlahor certainly thinks that this trend will continue for Arteta’s men at Anfield.
Agbonlahor predicts Liverpool win over Arsenal
Speaking to talkSPORT, the pundit explained why he’s backing Liverpool to pick up a huge win this weekend. “This is a big game. This is a game where Arsenal will look at it and say ‘you know what? We don’t mind a draw, we’ll take the draw and move forward,” Agbonlahor said.
“Liverpool are strong at home. But I’m going to go with a Liverpool win. I feel like Arsenal have been amazing this season but Liverpool are starting to get form. They’re doing better defensively as well. Van Dijk at the back with Konate. I’m going to go with a 2-0 Liverpool win.”
The clash is certainly dividing opinion
This game seems to be dividing opinion. Ian Wright backed his former team, Arsenal, to pick up a rare win over Liverpool at the Anfield. On the other hand, Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher says he can’t see his former side losing at home to Arteta’s men.
The Gunners haven’t won at Anfield in the Premier League since 2012 and their recent record there is miserable, to say the least. But they will fancy their chances this weekend as they head into the game full of confidence as Premier League leaders.
