About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Borussia Dortmund will enter the new season with lots of momentum and high expectation. The club went on an impressive winning streak to qualify for the champions league, while also securing the DFB Pokal.

There are changes happening at the club, especially at the top with Marco Rose coming in as the new manager. He will replace the interim manager Edin Terzic at the club. Terzic on the other hand was appointed as the Technical Director by Borussia Dortmund.

A new manager will bring with them new philosophy and the club will look to rebuild under Rose. This means that multiple transfers are happening in and out of Borussia Dortmund. Here are the major outgoings, incoming, and transfer rumours the club is linked to in the market.

BORUSSIA DORTMUND DEPARTURES

The major departure for the club is Jadon Sancho’s move to Manchester United. While this was a long-running transfer saga, United finally completed the transfer for a fee of €85 million, which could go up with the addons.

Both Lukasz Piszczek and Marcel Schmelzer have left Borussia Dortmund after their contracts came to an end. Alongside the veterans, the other departures include Sergio Gomez and Leonardo Balerdi. Gomez completed his move to RSC Anderlecht, while Balerdi will move to Olympique de Marseille.

There are also rumors about other Dortmund players who could be on a move this summer. This includes their superstar striker Erling Haaland who is linked with all the top clubs in Europe, with Chelsea and Real Madrid leading the race. Julian Brandt is another player who might make his move as he is garnering interest from the likes of Arsenal and Lazio. Denmark international Thomas Delaney is also linked with a move to Premier League side Southampton.

Nico Schulz is another player who is said to be not in the plans for new boss Marco Rose, though no offers are on the table for him. Goalkeeper Roman Burki is another player, who is allowed to leave this summer.

MAJOR INCOMINGS

But it is all not departures this season. The club have made major hierarchical changes. Alongside the appointment of new boss Marco Rose, the club has elevated Edin Terzic to the role of Technical Director. This came after the declaration of Sebastian Kehl as Sporting Director of the club. Kehl will succeed incumbent Michael Zorc next summer.

Dortmund have also made signings already. Gregor Kobel has joined the team from VfB Stuttgart and will be the first-choice goalkeeper next season. The club also secured the service of youngster Soumaila Coulibaly from PSG on a free transfer. Coulibaly is a central defender and is more of a long-term prospect.

The club is also heavily linked with multiple players. Dortmund will be looking to use the Sancho transfer fund to find his replacement. The PSV Eindhoven pair of Noni Madueke and Donyell Malen are the major targets and a bid for them could be launched soon. A

Another player that is being eyed is Marcel Halstenberg of RB Leipzig. The German is a versatile defender who can play in the left-back as well as in the center of defense. His contract with Leipzig ends next summer and hence could be available for cheap. The move is unlikely as Leipzig have already lost two of their main defenders.

Borussia Dortmund are going through a lot of change. They will be looking to fix their problems and fight to end Bayern Munich’s supremacy over the Bundesliga. The club however are prudent in the transfer market and have a good eye for talents. Expect more sensible transfers from the Black and Yellows in the coming weeks.
