Hugo Boumous dines with French President Emmanuel Macron & India PM Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Chief Guest of France at the Bastille Day celebration on July 14 in Paris. French President Emmanuel Macron hosted a state banquet at the iconic Louvre Museum in honour of the Prime Minister. Hugo Boumous, the French-Moroccan footballer, was among the 200 guests who joined the two leaders on France’s national holiday for the dinner at the world’s biggest stadium.

Hugo Boumous plays in India’s top-tier football league, the Hero ISL, for Mohun Bagan SG. Boumous got an invitation from the French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Madame Brigitte Macron, to the State dinner.

For this year’s Bastille Day Celebration, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the guest of honour for France. From the Indo-French community, many reputed personalities who have helped strengthen the relationship between the two countries got an invitation to the State Dinner. Many famous businessmen, sportspersons, diplomats, and other guests were present there.

Hugo Boumous felt very honoured to get an invitation to such a special event. Through his Twitter profile, he also shared an image of the official invitation letter sent to him by the French authorities. His shared picture read,

“Mr. President of the (French) Republic and Madame Briggite Macron ask Mr. Hugo Boumous, a professional football player (ATK Mohun Bagan), to come to the official dinner organized in memory of His Excellency Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, at the Louvre Museum on Friday, April 14, 2023.”

Delighted Hugo has also shown his gratitude by saying,

“Very delighted to have been invited by the French President Macron for an official dinner with the PM Narendra Modi on 14th of July at Louvre Museum for the France National day. It was really nice and rewarding there to meet interesting persons from both countries.”

Hugo Boumous has been part of the Hero ISL since 2018. He played for FC Goa, Mumbai City FC, and Mohun Bagan SG. Undoubtedly, the versatile midfielder has played a key role everywhere he plays.

Moreover, Hugo won the ISL League Shield with FC Goa in 2020 and with Mumbai City FC in 2021. He also won the Indian Super League two times, once with Mumbai City in 2021 and once with ATK Mohun Bagan in 2023. He also won the Hero Super Cup with FC Goa in 2018-19.
