Injury expert, Dr Rajpal Brar, provides news on Tottenham defender Eric Dier’s injury. According to him, Dier could be out for months if the worst-case scenario plays out.
Dr Brar further claimed that in the best-case scenario the Englishman could play the next game, but that looks highly unlikely for now. Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Dier’s got an issue with his groin that he has been dealing with for a while and that’s what keeps him out of action.
Dr Rajpal Brar’s exact words
Discussing Dier’s injury, Dr Rajpal Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said: “Initially, the best-case scenario would have been simply muscle soreness and him being available for the next match, provided that soreness and discomfort subsided. However, he does seem to be out for at least a couple of weeks.
“Worst-case scenario would be a high-grade muscle tear, in which case the timeline would depend on the specifics i.e. which muscle, how badly. He is looking at months out in that case.”
Eric Dier hasn’t been a regular for Tottenham this season
Despite Tottenham dealing with some injury issues, Postecoglou has hardly used Dier even when fit. The 29-year-old has started only one game this season. He has only featured in 2 league games this season, playing a grand total of 146 minutes of football.
Even with center-back Micky van de Ven injured, Dier didn’t get as much gametime as he might’ve hoped. This shows that the Tottenham manager doesn’t really count on Dier. It remains to be seen if Dier does end up recovering in December or not. However, he might still not be a starter even if he recovers.
Apart from Dier and Micky van de Ven, James Maddison and Rodrigo Bentancur will also be out for more than a month.
