Jamshedpur FC 1-0 SC East Bengal: The Game

As the first whistle sounded, both sides come relatively close to scoring as they were neck in neck. 27 minutes in, Arindam Bhattacharya had to be on high alert after Murray slipped in behind the SCEB backline.

The keeper rushed out of his box and skillfully pulled off a clearance. After that, neither side managed to create a major opportunity.

Nearing the break, Boris Singh was afforded a good opening to put his side in the lead. The winger’s movement left him unmarked in the area but could not direct his header as it flew over the crossbar.

The Men of Steel recorded majority of the possession and created more chances. However, Jamshedpur FC was unable to breach a solid SC East Bengal defence as the scores remained level at half-time.

Owen Coyle’s men began the second period on a brighter note as Jordan Murray’s header struck the crossbar. East Bengal center-back Adil Khan picked up an injury and was taken off for Darren Sidoel. Bhattacharya once again stretched to deny a Murray effort with a firm right hand.

After 75 minutes, the Men of Steel began to get forward with greater vigour. Yet again Murray was on target 5 minutes before time but his effort did not have nearly enough force to beat the SCEB keeper.

Nonetheless, cometh the hour, cometh the man, Ishan Pandita bagged another late goal. Pandita was on the end of a Greg Stewart corner and a pinpoint header from him sent Jamshedpur FC to the top of the ISL table.
