Barcelona continues to strategize for the summer transfer window. Manager Xavi Hernandez might have told the club that they must sign a right-back at any cost. Moreover Jules Kounde reportedly unwilling to continue playing at right-back. As a result Barça would be left with only Sergi Roberto as a backup option, which would be far from desirable.

Joao Cancelo is willing to join Barcelona this summer
As a result, a new player to bolster the position is required. Hence one of the names most strongly associated is that of Joao Cancelo. After a falling out with Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium, the Portuguese international is currently on loan at Bayern Munich from Manchester City. The Bavarian giants have a €70 million purchase option that they do not intend to exercise. And, with Cancelo unlikely to re-join Guardiola’s squad at Manchester City, another departure is almost imminent this summer. According to SPORT, the former Juventus and Valencia right-back is willing to battle for a move to Barcelona.
Cancelo is a realistic signing for the Blaugrana as long as he arrives on loan from the Premier League champions. They hope to use their close relationship with the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, to try to arrange a loan deal for the summer. Cancelo, for his part, is thought to be prepared to pursue a move to the Catalan club. However, recent rumours imply that Manchester City are reluctant to accept another loan exit for the Portuguese international. Instead, they would prefer to sell him permanently for €40 million.
Cancelo would still be less expensive than Barcelona’s other right-back target, Juan Foyth, who has a €55 million release clause in his contract with Villarreal. A move for a right-back will most likely be dependent on Barcelona’s Fair Play margin and the success of their intentions of acquiring Lionel Messi and a pivot midfielder.
