Juventus are interested in signing Diogo Dalot from Manchester United

Mac Allister

Diogo Dalot has become a very important part of the squad at Manchester United under Erik Ten Hag. The Portuguese has started all the games in Premier League as a right-back and is clearly the favored full-back. The fullback was the preferred choice even for Ralf Rangnick towards the end of last season. The 23-year-old has been in fine form for the past few weeks and even played for Portugal on international duty ahead of Joao Cancelo.

However, despite being in such a rich vein of form, the full-back has not been offered a new contract. The Portuguese international is currently contracted till 2023 and will become a free agent after the end of this season. This means that the player will be free to negotiate with other clubs in January for a pre-contract agreement.

Juventus is one of the many clubs interested in signing the Portuguese international on a free next summer. Diogo Dalot has played in the Serie A before when he spent the 2020/21 season on loan at AC Milan. The player has experience of playing in Italy and is very young which makes him a very lucrative option for the Bianconeri.

What other options does Diogo Dalot have?

The full-back scored twice on international duty for Portugal and has been in fine form for Manchester United as well. Amidst such red hot form, it is obvious that many clubs will be vying for his signature. In addition to Juventus, AC Milan has also expressed their interest in signing the full-back to strengthen their defensive department.

Real Madrid is also looking to sign a new right back to replace Dani Carvajal in the long term. However, Los Blancos will not be able to guarantee a starting spot for Diogo Dalot in the near future. AC Milan also have a similar problem as their club captain, Davide Calabria plays in the same position. The Italian is just 25 years old and will be a mainstay in the squad for years to come.

The best option in the market for Diogo Dalot is Juventus in such a scenario. Most other big clubs have reliable options in the right-back role and the Bianconeri is the only club that can guarantee him a regular playing spot. Danilo is aging and is on the decline so the club wants to sign a dynamic young full-back who can hone the position for years to come!!
