Juventus have join the race to sign Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Barcelona bought Dembele from Borussia Dortmund in August 2017 for €135 million just after the departure of Neymar Jr to PSG. The 23-year-old French winger has a contract with Ronald Koman’s side until 2022.
However, the deal didn’t pan out how they expected it would be. Dembele struggled to keep himself fit for a long period of time, he had disciplinary issues at Barca as well.
Because of those issues, the appearances for the Blaugrana was limited for Dembele. He has made only 50 starts for the Catalan giants over the four years in La Liga, and has scored only 17 goals and assisted 13 times. Dembele made 34 appearances across all competitions this season, marked with 10 goals and 4 assists.
Juventus want Dembele to replace Dybala?
Juventus want the versatile French winger to solve their problems of wide players. Currently, the Bianconeri have only Federico Chiesa, the in-form winger, in their squad. The addition of Dembele will help Andrea Pirlo to play with proper wingers on both sides.
The Old Lady of Turin have decided to rebuild their squad for next season by adding a few young and new names to the team to reduce the average age of the squad. The 23-year-old World Cup winner will be the perfect addition to that.
Barcelona want to keep Dembele and they want to offer a new contract to the Frenchman according to the transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. It is one of the main goal for Barca’s new president Joan Laporta.
Juventus can get Dembele for a cut-price this summer as he will remain only one year in his contract. If Dembele decides to leave then Andrea Pirlo’s side will have to spend around €40-50 million.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the talented French winger. Will, he decides to remain in Barcelona where he hasn’t had the best of his career or he will choose to go to Juventus to take a new challenge and play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo after playing four years with Lionel Messi.
