Two times Indian Super League runners-up Kerala Blaster on Monday announced the signing of Spanish Striker Álvaro Vázquez on a season-long deal.

He has played football mainly at the top-tier European clubs. And also represented the National team of Spain in his early career.

Before joining the Yellow Army he played for Sporting Gijón appearing in 53 fixtures since his signing at the club in 2019. At his stay at Sporting Gijón, he added six goals to his name and later went out to play for Sabadell on a loan deal.

The 30-year-old striker kick-started his professional journey in RCD Espanyol in 2010. In his three years of stay with the club, he played as many as 60 fixtures out of which he managed to score 10 goals. Getafe signed him during 2012 but was loaned to Swansea City. Interestingly across 86 fixtures, he netted 16 goals for Getafe.

Vázquez once again joined his first club Espanyol on a four-year contract. Yet again he went out to play for other Spanish clubs on loan. Finally, in 2019, the player signed a three-year contract with Sporting Gijón.

Having played more than 150 La Liga matches, he will definitely add more firepower to the Blasters attack.

‘This is a new stage of my career and I am looking forward to embracing the football and culture of India something which I have heard a lot about. I will do my best both on and off the field for the team.’– stated Vázquez

Vázquez is Kerala Blasters’ fourth new foreign signing ahead of the forthcoming season. The club has previously completed the signing of Bosnian defender Enes Sipović, Uruguayan midfielder Adrián Luna, and Argentine forward Jorge Pereyra Díaz.
