According to reports, Luis Figo, the former Portuguese footballer, did not name his former clubs Real Madrid and Inter Milan as his favourites to win this season’s UEFA Champions League. It is unclear which teams he picked as his favourites.

Real Madrid won the UEFA Champions League in the 2020-2021 season. After defeating Liverpool 3-1 in the final to secure their 14th European title.

Luis Figo chose Manchester City and Bayern Munich as his top picks to win this season’s UEFA Champions League. This is despite Real Madrid’s success in the competition last season and their dominant performance against Liverpool in the round of 16 this season.

Who does Luis Figo think can win this UCL season?

Luis Figo has stated that Real Madrid cannot be discounted as contenders in the Champions League. But his personal favorites for this season’s competition are Manchester City and Bayern Munich. Figo made the comment during the opening of a new campus of the Vicente del Bosque Academy.

It seems like an exciting quarter-final for Real Madrid against Chelsea. The possibility of facing off against Bayern Munich or Manchester City in the semis is definitely a tough challenge. As for Inter, their path to the next round looks challenging as well, with Benfica, Napoli, and AC Milan all strong opponents. It will be interesting to see how both teams perform in the tournament.

Luis Figo’s move from Barcelona to Real Madrid in 2000 was a controversial one, which was not welcomed from Barcelona. Upon his return to Camp Nou with Los Blancos, Barca fans threw a pig’s head at him. Nevertheless, Figo had a successful five-season spell at Santiago Bernabeu. He won two La Liga titles, a UEFA Champions League, a Ballon d’Or, and the FIFA World Player of the Year award as a Real Madrid player.
