Man United ready to pay £70,000 a week to facilitate forgotten star’s exit

Back in 2020, Donny van de Beek was hot commodity in the transfer market. Despite interest from many clubs across Europe, Manchester United managed to sign Donny van de Beek from Ajax for a £39 million fee. However, the Dutch international never got a fair chance at Old Trafford. During his 3 years at the club, he only managed to get 62 appearances in all competitions. Moreover, most of these were as a substitute.

Now, the 26-year-old is about to leave. According to Bild, the midfielder is close to joining Frankfurt on loan in January. The German side are also looking to get an option to purchase him permanently at the end of the campaign.

Manchester United ready to pay 60% of Donny van de Beek’s wages

The renowned German media outlet have mentioned that Donny currently earns 7 million euros a year and Manchester United are ready to pay 60% of his wages that comes to around £70,000 a week, to facilitate his move away from the club.

As per Sky Sports journalist, Florian Plettenberg, Frankfurt want to seal the deal this month to have him available at the start of next year.

No manager has trusted Donny

In the past three years, Donny has only started eleven games in the Premier League for Manchester United. He warmed the bench under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and must have thought he will be a starter under Erik ten Hag.

He was a key member of Ten Hag’s squad that won the domestic double in the Netherlands and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in the 2018-19 season. However, this term, the former Eredivisie midfielder has only made two appearances in all competitions for the Red devils, featuring for just 21 minutes in total.

A move to Frankfurt might be exactly what he needs to bring his career back on track.
