Earlier this week, Manchester United announced that an agreement has been reached with Sir Jim Ratcliffe for a 25% stake. He will be the one calling the shots once the deal is ratified by the Premier League. A decision on Ten Hag’s future is also likely to be made then.
Manchester United have had a rocky start to the season under Ten Hag. The are currently 6th on the PL table but already have 8 losses in 19 games. They even finished last in their Champions League group. Ten Hag is under immense pressure now as a result, and if things don’t improve in the next few weeks, there’s every chance he could be shown the door.
Dean Jones believes De Zerbi would appeal to Manchester United if Ten Hag is sacked
Journalist Dean Jones believes Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi would appeal to Manchester United if they decide to sack Ten Hag.
He told GiveMeSport: “It might be that if and when ten Hag does go, Manchester United take a chance on De Zerbi because he has shown what he can do in that Brighton set-up. As long as he can work within Manchester United’s culture, fine. I think De Zerbi and Julen Lopetegui are the type of managers that will appeal to them.
Jones further said that he doesn’t believe Man United would go for someone like a Zinedine Zidane.
De Zerbi would be fantastic at Manchester United
the 44-year-old Italian has been incredible in the Premier League. He led Brighton to a sixth-place finish last season and has brought in a very exciting brand of football.
Yes, the pressure that comes with the Manchester United job is significantly higher, but he is a young coach full of exciting ideas, and I think he would be amazing at Old Trafford.
As for now, Erik ten Hag is still the Manchester United manager. And if he can turn things around in the coming weeks, we won’t have to talk about his replacement.
